Peroxide Blonde: The Hot Look At MTV Music Awards

Amber Rose, Miley Cyrus, and Mama Pink really stood out at the MTV Music Awards show last evening. And the reason is very simple:

Peroxide blonde hair.

It wasn't exactly glamour puss in the classic image of Marilyn Monroe, but a shorter, edgier look on all three celebrities.

Now, we know you're either going to LOVE platinum cropped hair or you won't. And for the Miley fans who USED to adore the singer's more demure girly dos, we're curious if you're into the Miley edgy cut now, with sky-high volume.

We like the hot mess look on all three ladies. Pregnant Amber Rose looks radiant and stunning with her longer-than-ever peroxide hair and Mama Pink, well, this is her signature style and she rocks it.

We happen to approve of darker brows with very blonde locks. The professional makeup application is done just right, and we think rebellious Miley wears this ultra blonde shade and faux mohawk look with confidence and attitude.

As we all know in basic hair blonding 101, the lighter you go, the more time-consuming it becomes trying to keep up with ever-popping roots the chance of more damage to the delicate hair cuticle develops, the more conditioning required, etc.

That's why cropped dos and peroxide go hand-in-hand, because really long peroxide hair is the ultimate hair challenge even for the best of us. Or is it?

Who Says Makeup Doesn't Really Make A Beautiful Difference?!

Okay, we have girlfriends who aren't into makeup, and yes, they are all naturally attractive.

But, we would like to venture that a little makeup and bigger hair CAN do wonders, even beauty magic, in the case of 45-year-old bombshell Pamela Anderson.

"The proof is in the pudding," as the old saying goes. Just look at the photos. There's the former Playboy playmate at LAX yesterday, saying goodbye to her two sons. The bottom photo shows the Dancing with the Stars alum at a party in Germany on Labor Day.

Like night and day for the former Baywatch star.

Pam Anderson's makeup artist Alexis Vogel has perfected the bombshell signature look.

Even something as simple as foundation does a lot of good for every gals' complexion. Alexis told the LA Times what she does for Pam:

..."Vogel, who likes Armani foundations, recommends using an inexpensive professional latex sponge to apply foundation. Match foundation to your face, neck and arms and always blend it down the neck. Apply under-eye concealer, and use a big powder puff to gently pat on translucent powder. Then use a big fluffy brush to buff off any excess powder. Smile and pat a highlighter like Benefit High Beam around the upper part of the apple of your cheeks, following with shimmery blush on the apples for a dewy look. Blend so the makeup is seamless."

You Don't Need Kardashian Money To Wear Pretty Jewelry

Nicole Richie, we adore you, so PLEASE don't take offense to our latest post.

We've always been in love with Nicole's House of Harlow jewelry line, especially the black leather necklace that many celebrities have shown off, including Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian. At the moment, it is selling for $75 at RevolveClothing.com. The original, authentic piece is pictured in the TOP PHOTO.

We've seen the 5-station necklace at even higher prices, and once in a while, at lower prices.

We've been looking around for a House of Harlow Black Leather Necklace knock-off, and by golly----we have found some.

First of all---nothing can beat the original. Period. But when you want to imitate the rich and famous and you want to save a few bucks in the process, it's OKAY to cheat a little. The House of Harlow knock-offs do NOT feature black leather pendants. Theirs are black enamel.

We found one necklace at WetSeal. This one costs $9.50, and Buy 1 Get 1 Free. Final sale--no returns. We just ordered one by the way, and hope it is as nice as it looks online(Photo 6).

We also found a knock-off House of Harlow Leather Necklace on Ebay. And this one is even cheaper at Buy It Now $2.99, and .99 shipping from China. But the fake must be decent, because 775 of them have been sold(Photo 5).

We thought about the striking necklace after seeing Khloe wearing it on a recent episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The necklace has been a HOT piece of jewelry for about 3 years now. And Kim and Kourtney have also worn this necklace a lot.

Do you want one? We all want the REAL leather necklace, but we are also just fine wearing the knock-off.

Do you ever buy knock-offs?

Eye Makeup Error? Try This Efficient Little ELF Eraser

How many cotton swabs do you go through each morning as you apply your eye makeup?

If you make cat eyes as we attempt to do as part of our daily makeup routine, well, the Q-tips can add up. Two days ago, we went through about a dozen swabs. We were making lots of makeup mistakes, and kept trying to remove our messed up liquid liner flubs.

Now, there's an easier way. ELF Cosmetics has come to the rescue with their Studio Makeup Remover Pen. And it's super affordable at just $3!

ELF's pen comes with a felt tip. All you need is one, quick swipe to zap away uneven liner wings or eye shadow smudges, and so on.

The makeup remover pen is infused with a unique formula of cucumber, chamomile, and Vitamin E. It nourishes as it erases makeup mistakes, without leaving behind the greasies.

This is a great, little beauty item to tuck into your bag at all times.

Burgundy: Beautiful Color Trend For Fall 2012

Burgundy.

It's a rich, dark color, and HOT for Fall 2012. You will see the slimming shade everywhere-- with clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and makeup, too.

Okay, burgundy lips are bold (see Michelle Trachtenberg rockin' this), and if you cannot see yourself with that shade of lipstick, how about a burgundy mani/pedi?

By the way, wine is also known as burgundy, too, and the jewel-toned hues look very similar.

We found a lot of beautiful burgundy buys. Here are just a few:

1. Wet Seal Ballerina Stripe Sweater ($19.50).

2. Louis Vuitton Sofia Coppolla Satchel ($4,650, as seen on VS model Miranda Kerr).

3. Forever 21 Long Sleeve Lace Cardigan ($17.80).

4. Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick, Burgundy Shine ($6.47, at drugstore.com).

By the way, celebrity stylist Philip Bloch said this to OK magazine about the color burgundy:

"It's a sophisticated shade that works with every skin tone and hair color and looks best when paired with gold jewlery."

GREAT tips, Philip!

High Bun Like J Lo's: Smart Cool Style All Summer Long

Just twist and twirl. It's that easy.

Jennifer Lopez has been in and out of the ocean and lots of swimming pools all summer long. Here she is in Miami yesterday, coming from the hotel pool with cutie-pie daughter Emme.

Note the mother-daughter dos! How cute are J Lo's high bun and the matching miniature high bun for Emme!

The high bun keeps your strands in place in hot, humid weather and through underwater adventures. And the look is elegant and cool.

The high bun doesn't have to be perfectly coiffed. Simply pull your hair up into a high ponytail. Easy so far. Then, twist your hair until it coils around itself. Twirl it around and secure it with two to three bobby pins. Or wrap an elastic band around the high bun to keep it in place.

There--now you look as smart and cool as J Lo.
